A Martha’s Vineyard Family Tradition

Martha’s Vineyard’s calendar is full of wonderful annual traditions. Especially in the summer, you will hear visitors and locals alike discussing how they would “never miss” such events as the Preservation Trust’s Taste of the Vineyard or Martha’s Vineyard Community Services Possible Dreams Auction…  just to name a few. In the summer season, the list is long!

Now, quietly over the past couple of years, the Island (or the Edgartown Board of Trade to be exact) has given birth to another wonderful and not-to-be-missed annual tradition; and happily, this event is in the spring when our calendar is not quite as crowded!

Edgartown’s Pink & Green Weekend

Edgartown lighthouse pink and green weekend

May 9-11, 2014 marks the third annual Pink and Green Weekend in Edgartown. The weekend is a celebration of spring (and Mother’s Day of course!) and the entire town joins in the fun. (Notice the decorated lighthouse to the left – yes, that is our very own Edgartown lighthouse beauty). 🙂

There will be a bevy of Open Houses and sales and promotions around town (with pink and green themes), and fun for all ages.

Kids will LOVE the Cirque du Pink & Green at Donoroma’s on May 9, 4-donoromas pink and green weekend6pm.  It is an entertaining circus event under their glass tent. Donoroma’s really knows how to decorate for a party, so be sure to bring your camera if you go!

For the grown-ups in your group, there will be a Pink & Green cocktail contest at participating restaurants around town. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

We will be offering our popular Edgartown walking tour on both Saturday and Sunday morning — with a twist! Wear your pink and green, and receive a 20% discount. Don’t forget to call ahead to reserve your spot!

One of the highlights of the weekend is always the annual Pink and Green Ball on Saturday night. This year the ball is once again hosted by the Field Club with music by Martha’s Vineyard’s favorite dance band – The Sultans of Swing AND delectable Catering by Kitchen Porch. I’m hungry just thinking about it! The evening also includes a silent auction — and the best part is that although it is encouraged, you don’t have to wear pink and green to go! This event will sell-out, so plan ahead.

Because the Star of the Weekend is MOM, there are numerous delicious brunches in varying price ranges, to wrap up the weekend on Sunday. What better way to celebrate than a weekend on Martha’s Vineyard!

If you make it into Edgartown for the fun, please look for us and share your pictures with us on our Facebook page – we hope to turn our newsfeed pink and green. 🙂
